Fresh New Bathroom!

Lately, along with the overwhelming urge to purge my excess STUFF, I have also wanted to "freshen" things...I suppose that involves reorganization, and some re-decoration as well. The cheapest and easiest room to do this in (for us) was the BATHROOM. So, I decided to give it a little upgrade.

BEFORE: (brown, khaki, red towels; coordinating art) It was okay; nothing wrong with it necessarily. JUST SO BORED!!!!

AFTER: (brown, khaki, tiffany blue towels; coordinating Jolie Violet art; new baskets/boxes; different shower curtain ribbon).

COST: ribbon, $3
canvas, $10
paint, $3
adhesive, $5
TOTAL: $21

I love change, and I love to switch things up. So, I bought a plain white shower curtain and ironed on strips of ribbon (this idea is from my designer friend Stephanie: http://www.lamode-design.com/testimonials.html). She's awesome! Then, when I wanted to switch it up, I just changed the red ribbon to blue!

It was SO EASY AND CHEAP for me to re-do my bathroom! I already had these canvases laying around in my closet, begging to be used in a project. So, I snapped some cool shots of various parts of our puppy Jolie and blew them up into 11"X14" sepia toned prints. I sealed the project with MODGE PODGE after painting a 12"x12" canvas tiffany blue. I then used QUICK GRIP to adhere the 12X12 canvas to a 16X16 canvas that I had painted chocolate (and dotted with a sponge dobber in chocolate chip craft ink for a border). Super fun!!!!

Layers

Peeling away layers of STUFF lately. Still purging. Also putting hundreds of things into boxes to store while we're away for a year. WOW. We have a lotta stuff!!!! Here's another layer that I packed yesterday...

Enough Project(s)

This is the canvas that I did for my word of the year: Enough. Thank you to my pal Tammy who suggested using something with measuring tape! Found this old paper in my stash - thought it was perfect for the word :) I used my CRICUT to cut out the letters, then my XYRON to make them into stickers. I sealed everything with modge podge and finished with metal decorative brads in the corners :)

Also, a little butterfly project (see Ali's blog - I lifted hers!) for some babies in my life!

Canvas

Hello All -

Just thought I would share a few of my canvases that I have done over the last couple years...realized that they weren't posted!

I also have a new one at Michael's for custom framing...will show you that one later! The lady today said she was so inspired by seeing my canvas! I was so flattered! And, I hope that you will also be inspired...keep creating!!!!

This yellow one came to my mind one day and I knew it belonged in my mom's yellow bedroom! It has white vinyl butterflies from Stampin Up - love those!

The wedding ones are lifts from the treasury of memories ladies! I believe it was Carly who did something similar and inspired these...They are also the ones who did the custom vinyls with our wedding themes...

This one was from three years ago when my word of the year was "Creativity." I read The Artist's Way that year...and this year I have read Walking on Water - two great books on the connections between spirituality and creativity. I highly recommend both!
